Inspect Your Property Twice a Year

At Texas Durarock LLC, we recommend you walk around your property at least twice a year (spring and fall) to visually inspect your exterior wall system. Look for unusual things like:

• Surface damage
• Cracking
• Staining
• Mold
• Mildew
• Discoloration of finish
• And/or deterioration of sealants

You should pay special attention to areas around doors and windows, large wall expanses, roof-to-stucco transitions, and where different materials like stucco and stone meet. Be sure to make sure the caulk is in good condition and not dried up or shrinking back from either material.

You should also check where gutters are fastened, along soffit transitions, below windows, and around doors. Does everything look clean and in good repair? Look for stains below on the:

• Kickout flashings
• Cracks at building connections or penetrations
• Stucco terminations
• Control joints
• Expansion joints
• Corners
